My husband and I have always loved travelling. We have been fortunate over the years to be given opportunities to see beautiful countries and some wonderful places. Most people don’t put the emphasis on the accommodation as I do. A classic room, fantastic amenities and good room service all go towards a fabulous trip! In this series of posts over the coming weeks I’m going to showcase some of the architecture and interiors of some amazing properties around the world including The Ritz in Paris, The Mandeville in London and The Mandarin Oriental in New York.
Unlike my husband the hotel and the location of the hotel make or break a trip for me. I get so excited by hotels that base their design around the tradition of their surroundings. I’m not a fan of overly modern hotels, especially ones that don’t reflect their environment or culture (don’t get me started on the Art Hotel, Rome. For anyone who knows that hotel, we were on the ‘green’ floor!). My accommodation doesn’t need to be a luxurious hotel, I’ve stayed in many a backstreet pensione in my time and loved every minute!
My choice for this post however, is more of the luxurious persuasion. Recently Mövenpick Resorts opened their latest creation in Laem Yai Beach Koh Samui . They have been sympathetic to their surrounds and have created an amazing destination for their guests to enjoy. The foyer sets the scene the minute you enter the resort with its traditional design and architecture. Their villas and rooms are on the ground level with a private garden and terrace, some even with their own private plunge pool. The creators have blended traditional Thai architecture with modern design ensuring all rooms feature premium amenities (yes! including FREE WI-FI!).
The hotel is family friendly with many pools to choose from, including a pool just for the little ones. There are 1 or 2 bedroom villas available as well as beachfront pool villas. Some activities to enjoy during your visit –
- Speed boating through the Angthong National Marine Park
- Kayaking and snorkelling
- Enjoying the amazing sunsets at Laem Yai Beach
- Indulge at the Chaba Spa
- Visit the Big Buddha Temple
- Explore the local culture of Samui
- Mountain biking or, if you prefer …..
- spending the day lying by a pool sipping cocktails!
So when choosing your next holiday destination, stop and take a look at this premium destination and property. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
